In a spirited and close vote of the WorldSkills Members during the General Assembly, the city of Kazan, Russia, has been selected to host the WorldSkills Competition in 2019. The Competition will bring together Competitors, Experts, and industry, education, and government leaders from around the world.

The city of Kazan in Russia, will host the 45th WorldSkills Competition in 2019. The award was made as the result of a vote taken at the WorldSkills General Assembly meeting held in São Paulo, Brazil, 10 August 2015.

Aligned with the rules and procedures of WorldSkills, a roll call of Delegates was taken, with 57 voting Members present. To win the bid, an absolute majority is required – in this case a minimum of 29 votes.

WorldSkills Belgium, WorldSkills France, and WorldSkills Russia each had 20 minutes to present to Delegates the compelling reasons to support their candidate city bid (Charleroi, Paris, Kazan, respectively). All three are active and dedicated Members of WorldSkills. At approximately 18:08 voting began with Delegates called to cast a ballot in favour of their candidate city. Ballots were cast and counted, with results announced at 18:25 confirming that there was no absolute majority winner. So, a second vote was taken with Paris, France, and Kazan, Russia in contention.

Results of the second round of voting were announced at approximately 18:42 with the award going to WorldSkills Russia. The Competition will take place in the city of Kazan, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan.
